Join us on Thursday, November 16th, as Dr. Eden Tesfu explores the question: How does one move from being a scientist developing synthetic tools for building addressable small molecule libraries to being a leader in driving environmental & human safety assessment science to enable sustainable agricultural productivity solutions?

 

Dr. Eden Tesfu currently serves as a North America Structural Elucidation and Residue Analytics Lead at Bayer Crop Sciences based in Chesterfield, MO.  In this position, she leads teams of scientist focused on generating trace level pesticide residue analytical data for risk assessment of sustainable active ingredients development for the company’s crop protection products.  Dr. Eden Tesfu is an influential leader and values partnership to drive innovation to .  She is a board member of Bayer’s Cross-Cultural Champions in Technology (C3T) – a Resource Network focused on effective collaborations globally.  Dr. Tesfu is also board member for Industry advisory board for the University of Missouri-St. Louis department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

 

Dr. Tesfu is a native of Eritrea and has been a St. Louis resident since 2001.  She has worked for various companies within the St. Louis Metropolitan areas including Pfizer (Post-doctoral Researcher), EAG Labs (Scientist and Lab Manager), Monsanto (Regulatory Scientist; Compliance Manager) and Bayer.

 

Dr. Tesfu holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Asmara-Eritrea and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis.  When she is not working, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family in various activities.  Dr. Tesfu, her husband and their three kids live in Chesterfield, MO.
