Chemistry Seminar with Dr. Patrick Charbonneau from Duke University at 4:00pm
Speaker biography: Patrick Charbonneau is Professor of Physics and Chemistry at Duke University and Lead Editor of Physical Review E. He received his Ph.D. in chemical physics from Harvard University in 2006 and was subsequently a Marie Curie Fellow at AMOLF in Amsterdam before joining Duke in 2008. His research lies at the interface of soft matter and statistical physics, where he develops theoretical and computational approaches to study disordered and frustrated systems, including glasses, jammed packings, and microphases. His work has been recognized with a National Science Foundation CAREER Award and a Sloan Research Fellowship, and he is both an APS Outstanding Referee and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He recently co-edited the well-received volume Women in the History of Quantum Physics (Cambridge University Press).
Prof Charbonneau's visit is hosted by Prof Rob Wexler.
