Gerry Kohring wins Arts & Sciences Outstanding Staff Award

Congratulations to Gerry Kohring, Chemistry’s Storeroom Manager, on his 2016 Arts & Sciences Outstanding Staff Award.  Gerry has been a member of the Chemistry Department since 2007 and was promoted to the Storeroom Manager in 2014.  He has excelled in his new role; he’s been a key player on our staff for years, and especially so since his promotion.

Gerry is focused on excellent customer service and supporting the research and teaching in Chemistry to operate efficiently and cost-effectively.  Beyond his assigned job duties, Gerry consistently does whatever he can to help manage the business of the Chemistry Department.  He worked with EHS and modify the chemical inventory system with custom features for Chemistry.  He organized the donation of over 6,000 chemicals, consumables, and pieces of equipment to the Chemistry Department during winter break in 2015.  He manages purchases, deliveries, and shipments for all scientists and staff in our department.  He works in an office that constantly disrupted by delivery traffic, contractors, and facility workers performing building maintenance.  Yet he consistently smiles and pleasantly helps students, staff, and faculty from across campus who need assistance in the storeroom.

Gerry is a terrific staff member in Chemistry.  Please congratulate him on his Outstanding Staff Award when you see him!
