The NDSEG Fellowship Program was established in 1989 by the Department of Defense (DoD) to encourage promising U.S. scientists to pursue doctoral degrees in designated research disciplines. This prestigious three-year Fellowship Program is designed for current PhD candidates who are early in their studies and align with the DoD services' Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs) and other strategic research and development documents. Since the inception of the Fellowship Program, over 70,000 applications have been received, with only 4,700 fellowships awarded. Recipients receive full tuition, a monthly stipend, a travel allowance, and health insurance funding for a period of three years. The NDSEG Fellowship Program is sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Army Research Office (ARO), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) under the Office of the Under Secretary for Research and Engineering. Systems Plus, Inc. administers this program.
