Professor Macias is Provost Emeritus of Washington University in St. Louis.
Edward Macias joined the university in 1970, serving in various positions including professor and chair of the Department of Chemistry. He became the university’s chief academic officer in 1988, when he was appointed provost. In 1995, he was named executive vice chancellor and dean of Arts & Sciences, and in 2009, he once again was named provost. He continued his role as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs until 2013.
