The Chemistry Department at Washington University has now opened the Polymer Core Facility. The new facility, managed by Dr. Yi Yi, offers a range of services for polymer research across WashU and the greater St. Louis research community.
These services include custom polymer synthesis and polymer characterization. The capabilities of custom synthesis include polymers having different architectures, micro-/nanoparticles (polymer, SiO2, etc.), hydrogels, and small molecules (ligands, dyes, etc.). Polymer characterization service includes molecular weight and molecular weight distribution (GPC, MALDI-TOF MS, etc.) and rheological properties. The facility also has several advanced 3D printers for additive manufacturing services.
The facility offers training sessions and staff assistance with materials testing and results interpretation. It serves as a focal point on campus for polymer research and education, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among the university and the broader research community.
The facility is located in Louderman 443 and is open Mondays - Fridays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
