Chemistry Department unveils new named lecture series

Dr. Armendarez was a first-generation college student who joined the Air Force after graduating from Loyola Marymount University. Originally a nuclear scientist for the Air Force, Peter's career in the military sent him to Washington University in St. Louis, where he joined Arthur Wahl's lab group as a graduate student. After earning his master's degree from WashU, Peter continued his education at the University of Arizona, where he earned his PhD in physical chemistry. Our Named Lecture Series provides opportunities for the Department to host top-level researchers and scientists from other institutions to visit, give a seminar highlighting their expertise, and network with members of the WashU community. The Chemistry Department facilitates the speakers' visit to WashU and their stay in the city.

Professor Carlos Bustamante from UC Berkeley is the Inaugural Speaker for the new Armendarez Seminar Series, which is hosted by Chem-DEI with support from the Packard Foundation. The two-part lecture series will take place on October 24th and 25th.
